22 LBWC, Lake Barcroft Easter Egg Hunt

11:00 a.m. at Beach 5
3,000 eggs filled with jelly beans are hidden for all Lake Barcroft children ages 6 months to 12 years old. The Easter Bunny will visit then too. This event goes on in sunshine only. Otherwise it will be rescheduled for the following afternoon.

6 Music on the Lake with Pianist Eric Himy
Sunday, April 6, 2008 3:00 p.m.
At the home of Will & Anne O"Neil, 6404 Lakeview Drive
The "Music on the Lake" house concert series is pleased to announce that Eric Himy, the flamboyant pianist who dazzled us two years ago, will be back with all-Debussy program. Seating is limited, so book early. The concert will last a little over an hour, followed by a reception.

12 The LBWC House Tour
Saturday, April 12, 2008
10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Five fabulous houses will be on the tour. Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at the door. Children 12 years old and up and adults only. Tickets may be purchased by contacting Carol Tether at Caroldt@aol.com or Eva Kosztarab at Ekosztarab@aol.com. Event goes on rain or shine. All proceeds go to local charities.

Free. Bring all your unwanted plants to swap/get treasured plants from others/share tips with other gardeners.

10 8th Annual Sand Day
Who: Families with young children, grandparents who enjoy seeing kids have fun, all Barcroft residents who like picnics on the beach
What: Games for children, food for all (sold by Newcomers Club)
Where: Beach 4
When: activities starting at 11:00 a.m., with organized games beginning at 11:30 a.m.
Why: The attraction is a truckload of sand delivered to the beach but not yet spread around. Kids can play in the sand and participate in games. Adults can act childish if they want, or simply enjoy spring weather and conversation with neighbors.
   Youth leaders from the community will help run the games. They are seeking helpers ages 11 and up to run the games for children in three age groups: 2 - 4 years old, 5 – 8, and over 9.    For more information contact Lisa Levine at llevineny@verizon.net
   Adults are needed to help with the sale of picnic fare such as hamburgers, hot dogs, Italian sausage, chips, sodas, bottled water, juice boxes and cookies. For further information contact Newcomers Club president Miranda Thomas (703-942-5775).
   Rain date is May 11, and if the event is postponed from May 10 there will be an announcement posted on LakeLink.

31 Rum Tasting
May 31st, 7 – 11pm
Place: The McManis Home: 6337 Waterway Drive
The event is $15 for Newcomers' Club members and $20 for non-members. A hearty appetizer is also required. This is an advance-payment event. Your check is your reservation. Please send a check, along with the names of attendees, to:

7 WID Tour of the Dam
June 7 11 - 2pm (rain date June 8)
Tour of the Lake Barcroft dam, compound and facilities sponsored by Newcomers Club and WID. The WID Board of Trustee's and staff will be conducting an "open house" on the WID compound, located at 3650 Boat Dock Dr. near the end of Pinetree Terrace. Reserved time slots for dam tours available between 11am and 12:40pm. Walk up dam tours from 12:45pm

7 Barcrofters Barge Dinner

Location: Trippi and Tom Penland’s Home, 6305 Waterway

14 Ice Cream Social !
Saturday, June 14, 3:00 - 5:00 p.m., at Beach 5. (Rain date: Sunday, June 15)
We need volunteers! If you are willing to help set up, clean up, or serve cream, please contact event chair Janet Kerley (703-642-0552) or jkerley_22041@yahoo.com.

4 Fourth of July Parade
Starts at 11 am at Beach 5.
All family members (adults, kids and pets) are encouraged to dress in patriotic attire and march in the parade.
Decorated bikes, strollers and wagons are also encouraged.
People will begin forming about 10:40 am and the parade will end at Beach 3.

4 Fourth of July Fireworks
Fireworks will be held on July 4th approximately 30 minutes after sunset.
Best viewing will be from Beach 2,3 and the water near those beaches.
All events are weathering permitting. If you are unsure, check Lakelinks for announcements and updates.

2 BBQ on the Beach

Location: 3320 Grass Hill Terrace
Sponsored by Newcomers and the LBA. The annual bash on the beach with potluck food, barbecue and good music.
