Congratulations to the new Woman’s Club officers, elected for the 2004-05 year at the April Hats On Luncheon:
· Burma Klein & Cindy Waters, Co-Presidents
· Roxanna Douglas & Martha Bracken, Co-First Vice Presidents
· Heather Thomas, Second Vice President/Membership
· Ann Nichols, Recording Secretary
· Betty Guy, Correspondence Secretary
· Carol Tether, Treasurer
At this meeting, the Woman’s Club also voted to accept the recommendation of its Beach Improvement Committee to donate $600 for power washing and sealing 19 picnic tables and five benches to improve the beaches for residents in all areas of the Lake. Also recommended and approved was the replacement of swings at Beach 2. Funds for a bucket swing and two sling swings came from generous donations by neighbors, so LBWC funds were not needed for this project.
The Beach Improvement Committee, comprised of Priscilla Weck, Madeleine Tawney, Pat Kassing, Christi Hays, Mary Ann Lecos, Signe Linscott, Ann Walker, and Jane Legault, chair, has been evaluating projects since September. The LBWC was not able to act on all of these at this time, but among the suggestions were Lake and Water Safety Classes for adults and children, power lines for lifeguard stations, and a handicapped walk at Beach 3. The Lake Barcroft Woman’s Club continues to look for ways to improve community life.
