Judy Romney of Lakeview Drive was eulogized on Feb. 7 at John Calvin Presbyterian Church as a person “who never did a mean or dishonest thing in her entire life.” Judy grew up and attended college in North Carolina, where she was a state champion in shorthand and typing. In Washington, Judy worked for the Federal Reserve Board and later for Generals Omar Bradley and Matthew Ridgeway at the Pentagon. Judy married Miles Romney in 1941 and moved to Lake Barcroft in the 1960s. She was active in the Woman’s Club and was a master gardener, artist and musician. The Romneys were founding members of the Lake Barcroft Recreation Center, where the children excelled on the swim team. Judy also provided leadership for local and national efforts to curb violence on TV programming for children.
