By mid-May we should see improvements in Columbia Pike from Lacy Boulevard to the Arlington County Line. According to Priscilla Weck of Pinetree Terrace, projects include new brick sidewalks, bus shelters, trees and benches, as well as elimination of service roads. All utility poles will be moved to one side of the street to eliminate the jungle of wires overhead.
Priscilla is vice president of the Bailey's Crossroad Revitalization Corporation, an advisory committee that has been working to make improvements to the Bailey's Crossroads/Seven Corners area from funds approved by passage of a $6.2 million Fairfax County bond referendum in 1988.
Other BCRC projects include new plantings at Seven Corners to make the Leesburg Pike entrance more welcoming, and a project with the Department of Transportation to improve the safety and appearance of the intersection of Leesburg Pike and Glen Carlyn Road.
