Circle this date: February 26.

Write yourself a note, and be at Belvedere Elementary School at 7:30 p.m. for the annual meeting of the Lake Barcroft Community Association. We'll be voting on the budget and electing new LBA Board members.

Rising costs, combined with unplanned additional increases in major budget categories, have resulted in a proposed LBA budget that includes significant increases in annual fees. Barge fees would increase from $25 to $40, other boats from $5 to $15, and real estate transfer fees from $25 to $100. The annual membership fee would go from $210 to $240. Fees were last increased in 1999.

Fourteen candidates will be running for seven open seats on the Board, one of which is to fill one year of the term of Barbara McGrew, who is moving from the Lake. The partial term and the remaining six board seats will be up for election next year.

Also at the annual meeting, committee chairmen will report on where we've been and where we're going. There will be plenty of time for comment and questions.
